Summary: Lip Sync does not collect personal data for us to operate accounts, advertising, or cloud sync. Measurement values, settings, and history stay on your device. Camera and microphone are used only for on-device measurement in Camera Measure; recordings are not saved or uploaded by us. On Android (Google Play), anonymous crash diagnostics may be sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics to improve stability. The iOS version does not include Crashlytics.

What Data Is Collected?
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect contact details, location, contacts, photos, or payment information through the app. Lip Sync is a measurement tool: it generates sync reference signals and evaluates timing on your device.
Data stored locally on your device may include in-app settings (for example frame rate, tone, precision mode, QR anchor preference) and a local measurement history of recent results. This information stays on your phone or tablet and is not synced to our servers.
When you use features that analyse input from your device’s camera or microphone (for example Camera Measure), audio and video are processed only on your device for live measurement. The app does not persist recordings of that input, does not add it to your photo library, and does not transmit camera or microphone streams to us. Any buffering or intermediate values exist only temporarily in device memory as needed for the measurement.
Android only (Google Play build): if the app crashes or encounters a serious error, diagnostic information such as stack traces, device model, operating-system version, and app version may be transmitted to Google Firebase Crashlytics. This is used solely to diagnose and fix stability issues. We do not use Crashlytics for advertising or user profiling, and the iOS App Store build does not include this SDK.
03
Legal Bases (GDPR)
When you use Lip Sync, we do not receive measurement or account data on servers we operate; core processing happens on your device. In-app preferences and measurement history stored locally are not transmitted to us.
On Android, sending anonymous crash diagnostics to Firebase Crashlytics is based on our legitimate interest in maintaining a stable app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You may object to this processing where applicable by contacting us (Section 01); disabling network access or uninstalling the app stops further crash reports.
If you contact us by email, we process the personal data you provide (typically your email address and the content of your message) to respond to your inquiry. The legal bases are our legitimate interest in handling user requests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, where applicable, steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
04
System Permissions
Lip Sync may request access to your device camera and microphone where needed for on-device measurement (for example Camera Measure). Granting access is optional; without it, those features cannot run.
On Android, the app may also use vibration for short haptic feedback when starting or stopping the sync pattern. This does not access personal data.
Camera and microphone input is used only for real-time analysis on your device. The app does not save recordings of that input, does not upload or share it with us, and does not use it for advertising. If any data is held briefly in memory to perform the measurement, it is temporary only and is not stored long-term on our systems.
You can withdraw permissions at any time in your device’s system settings:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera / Microphone
- Android: Settings → Apps → Lip Sync → Permissions
Revoking camera or microphone access disables Camera Measure. Uninstalling the app removes locally stored settings and measurement history.
05
Sharing Data with Third Parties
We do not sell your data. Measurement results, camera/microphone streams, and in-app settings are not shared with us or with advertisers.
Android (Google Play): the app uses Google Firebase Crashlytics as a processor to receive anonymous crash and error diagnostics so we can fix defects. Google may process this information on servers outside your country. Crashlytics is not used for ads or cross-app tracking. See Google’s privacy policy and Firebase documentation for details (Section 08).
Lip Sync does not use:
- Advertising networks or ad tracking SDKs
- Marketing or product-analytics services (for example Mixpanel or Firebase Analytics)
- Cloud sync of your measurement history to our servers
- Social network SDKs
We do not transfer personal data that we receive directly from you (for example by email) to third parties except where required by law or needed to respond to your request.
06
Data Storage
Lip Sync stores in-app settings (for example frame rate, tone, precision mode, and QR anchor preference) and a rolling local measurement history on your device. On Android, this uses on-device app storage (DataStore); on iOS, equivalent local app storage is used. This data is accessible only to you and is not synced to our servers or a cloud account we operate.
You can clear measurement history inside the app where the feature is offered. Uninstalling the app deletes local settings and history. Crash diagnostics already sent to Firebase Crashlytics before uninstall are retained by Google according to its retention rules.
07
Children and Minors
Lip Sync is not directed at children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect any personal data, there is no particular risk in this regard. Nevertheless, we encourage parents to supervise their children's use of the app.
08
App Stores, Google Play & Platform Services
Lip Sync is distributed via the Apple App Store and Google Play (Android package: com.audioimpact.lipsync). Apple and Google may collect their own data in connection with downloads, purchases, fraud prevention, and store services. That collection is governed solely by each provider’s privacy policy, not this one.
Google Play Data safety: our Play Console disclosures describe app permissions and data practices, including camera and microphone use for measurement and crash diagnostics on Android. If anything in the store listing differs from this page, treat the Play Console / App Store disclosures at the time of download together with this Privacy Policy.
Third-party services used by the app:
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — Android only; anonymous crash and error reports
- Apple App Store / Google Play — distribution and store infrastructure

Google: policies.google.com/privacy
Firebase: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
09
Your Rights (GDPR)
Since Lip Sync does not collect or process personal data on our systems through the app itself, most GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) are not practically applicable to app-generated data held only on your device. You do however have the following options:
- Clear measurement history in the app or uninstall the app — this deletes local settings and history on your device
- Contact us at any time with questions (see Section 01 for contact details)
- For crash data processed by Google Firebase Crashlytics on Android, you may also review Google’s privacy tools and policies (Section 08)
If we process personal data you send us directly (for example by email), you may have the rights provided under Articles 15 to 22 GDPR (including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection), where applicable. You may exercise these rights by contacting us using the details in Section 01.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement (Art. 77 GDPR). The supervisory authority for Austria is the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde): dsb.gv.at.
We do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR in connection with Lip Sync.
10
California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a resident of California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) may grant you additional rights regarding personal information.
Lip Sync does not sell personal information (as defined under the CCPA/CPRA). We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger a right to limit such use under the CPRA in connection with the app. On Android, anonymous crash diagnostics may be shared with Google Firebase Crashlytics as a service provider for app stability. For requests relating to information you voluntarily provide to us (for example in an email), you may contact us at privacy@audioimpact.at.
11
Data Security
Measurement and sensor data are processed on your device and are not transmitted to servers we operate. On Android, only anonymous crash diagnostics may be sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics over encrypted connections. All other measurement processing takes place locally, protected by the security architecture of iOS or Android.
